Hot chocolate at Poets Cafe, Montville, Australia

Today I decided to take a small bus tour out of the city to explore the area around Brisbane. There is so much to do around Brisbane so it was difficult to choose which tour to take. There are incredible beaches, national parks and the zoo started by the world famous and much loved/hated Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin. I choose one that visited a few towns up North.

We started by driving to Eumundi which has the largest farmers market in Australia and then up to Noosaville and taking a short ferry ride to Noosa Heads. We had a bit of time to explore the streets of this beach side town and I found myself a meat pie and vanilla slice which I enjoyed while sitting on the sand. I highly recommend meat pies and vanilla slices if you are ever visiting Australia … sooo good.

We then drove to Montville which is a very artistic little town inland where I found Poets Café. This little café on the main streets is gorgeous and from the terrace outside you have a lovely view across the valley. I ordered a hot chocolate which was presented quite beautifully. It was nice, nothing too fancy really, a little too sweet for my liking but gave me a chance to rest my feet and enjoy not just the view on one side but the busy main street on the other side.

We finished off the day with a quick trip to the cheese factory in Montville before going back to Brisbane.

Verdict: If you have the time, use it to visit the Northern area around Brisbane. There are so many interesting sights and Montville is a great spot to stop for a bite to eat and of course a hot chocolate. Poets Café, 167 Main Street, Montville, Australia
